Blues Match Report - Kidderminster Harriers 0 - 2 Chester FC

Chester FC recorded their fifth consecutive win, moving up to third in the table in the process, in front of the BT Sport cameras.

Declan Weeks broke the deadlock two minutes after the break, before Charlie Caton sealed the win late on in front of a jubilant away end at Aggborough.

Manager Calum McIntyre named an unchanged side from the 1-0 win over Blyth Spartans on Friday night, and his team had the first shot of the game as the Captain Weeks fired a low effort wide from range.

It was a cagey opening 45 with half chances few and far between. Caleb Richards picked off a loose pass just before the interval and drove into the Chester area – but drilled over.

The moment of quality came just a minute into the second half, as Weeks – against his former club – spun 20 yards from goal to make the space and fire an excellent effort across Tom Billson into the far corner.

One quickly almost became two as Caton beat the offside trap down the right and crossed brilliantly for sub Joe Lynch to fire towards goal, however he was denied by an excellent goal line block from Reiss McNally.

Kidderminster started to keep plenty of the ball as the half progressed, but the Yellows defence stood firm and strong to deny any big openings. When one did arrive for Ben Margetson he found the back of the net, but the flag was up for offside before the effort.

Down the other end, the impressive Iwan Murray slipped through Caton on the counter, but his effort trickled inches wide of the post via a slight touch from ‘keeper Tom Billson.

Harry Tyrer was worked twice in the second half, getting across well to push behind Paddy McLaughlin’s volley – before late on touching Joe Leesley’s wicked corner on to the crossbar and over.

A defensive mix up in stoppage time for the hosts saw Shrewsbury loanee Caton nip beyond ‘keeper and defender to tap into an empty net and seal another impressive win for the Seals.
