BLUES MATCH REPORT - CHESTER FC 2 - 0 FARSLEY CELTIC

Chester FC got their second win of the season in convincing fashion against previously unbeaten Farsley Celtic.

The Blues made an electric start to the game, two up inside a quarter of an hour thanks to goals from Elliott Whitehouse and George Glendon, which set them up for an afternoon which delivered a comfortable three points.

Calum made one change from the late defeat at Scarborough Athletic, as Whitehouse returned to the side in place of Franke Maguire who dropped to the bench.

And it was the man back in the side that opened the scoring on five minutes.

Neat play following a quickly taken free kick ended with skipper Glendon cutting the ball back low for the number ten to convert from close range.

The Captain of the Blues then doubled the scoring. Declan Weeks swung in a beautiful cross from the right and Glendon stooped to head home.

Two was almost three moments later as Chester continued their electric start. Iwan Murray’s shot was hit with venom and swerved awkwardly, but Zan-Luk Leban did well to push it around the post.

The chances continued to flow. On the half hour mark, Leban spilled Whitehouse’s cross and Kole Hall looked destined to tap home – but for a super block from Rudy Misambo.

At the other end, Joao Silva stormed forward as part of a rare counter but was denied by the outstretched Wyll Stanway.

Just before the break a chance almost presented itself for the Blues as they had three vs two and Weeks found Kieran Coates – however his effort was well blocked.

The Blues continued to press for that game-killing third as the second half took shape – with Murray curling over before Weeks being denied by Leban.

It was to be a man advantage that came next though, as Conor Branson was shown his marching orders. Hall spun the defender brilliantly from Glendon’s free kick and was through before being hauled down – simple decision for Referee Shaun Taylor.

Hall almost added the gloss on 82 minutes, challenging Silva in his own half before driving into the Farsley box and being denied by Leban.

Leban again in stoppage time stopped a third as the ball fell to Weeks in the box, but the Everton loanee made an excellent stop to deny him.

Subs Not Used: Goodson, Evans, Earl, Daly.
