Blues Match Preview: Peterborough Sports v Chester FC

Calum McIntyre’s men travel to Cambridgeshire today for an Enterprise National League North clash with Peterborough Sports.

It will be the second of three away trips on the bounce for the Seals, following an entertaining 2-1 victory against Spennymoor Town in midweek, and before next Tuesday’s clash with Marine.

Our most recent trip to PIMS Park saw a first-half strike from Fin Roberts claim a seventh-straight success at the beginning of 2025.

The Opposition

The Turbines have endured a challenging campaign to date, with Phil Brown’s side currently sat on 22 points from their opening 25 encounters.

That record leaves the club two points from safety, but with two games in hand on Oxford City, who currently occupy the spot just above the dotted line.

A recent run of six league games without a win followed back-to-back home wins at the end of November, as Radcliffe and Bedford Town both left PIMS Park empty handed.

The Gaffer

Ex-Premier League boss Phil Brown has been at the helm in Cambridgeshire for just over four months, following his appointment in September with the club inside the bottom four.

The 66-year-old left fellow National League North outfit Kidderminster Harriers in the summer following their play-off semi-final defeat to the Blues, after his side narrowly missed out on the league title courtesy of a dramatic final day of the campaign.

Brown’s most notable job in management arrived at Hull City between 2006-10, a period in which he guided the club to the English top flight for the first time in their history.

Since his eventual dismissal in March 2010, Brown has managed a number of clubs, including Preston North End, Swindon Town, Southend United, and Barrow.

The boss also spent just over a year managing a pair of clubs in India, firstly with Pune City between December 2018 and September 2019, before a stint at Hyderabad FC from October 2019 until January 2020.

One To Watch

Former Kettering Town man Luca Miller has been involved in over 30% of Sports’ total goals so far this term, with eight to his name in just 20 appearances.

A product of the Poppies’ academy setup, he made his first team debut for Kettering aged just 17, before loan spells with a number of clubs, including Raunds Town, Desborough Town, Harborough Town, and St. Ives Town.

Miller has took the step up from the seventh to the sixth tier in his stride so far this season and has been key asset in Phil Brown’s forward armoury.

He netted a brace in the win over Bedford in November, alongside crucial goals in victories over Southport and Chorley earlier in the campaign.
