The Aspray Chester Deeside Dragons are beyond thrilled to confirm the triumphant return of their star forward and Alternate Captain, Andy McKinney. A shining beacon on the ice, McKinney's impressive tally of 15 goals and a total of 47 points in a mere 25 games last season cemented him as one of the team's key assets, soaring to third in team scoring.
Reflecting on his return, McKinney stated, “Excited to be back on board following a turbulent season. We had plenty of adversity last year, but we persevered and did well all things considered. The outlook towards next season is strong, with hopefully some new faces in the line-up. We’re aiming to be younger, faster, and more exciting to watch. We’re expecting big things and I’m really happy to take on a leadership role again within the group and supporting the coaching staff!”
Head Coach Mike Clancy is just as enthusiastic about McKinney's return for the 23/24 season. "Andy played a pivotal part in last season's successes and will become an integral part of the coaching team, allowing us to press ahead with our longer-term goals of becoming a well-established development club," he shared.
"His wealth of experience from his illustrious career will push the team week in, week out. He's a huge character to be around for the younger players we are looking to introduce to our squad. He will become a great mentor to many looking to develop their game. The future looks bright with Andy onboard, with a longer-term plan for the Aspray Chester Deeside Dragons!”
