Appeal for information following series of motorbike thefts in Ellesmere Port

Detectives investigating a series of thefts in Ellesmere Port involving motorbikes are appealing for information from members of the public.

A white Honda XL 125 was stolen from Highfield Road at around 2.30am on Thursday 25 August and a black and yellow Ducati Scrambler was taken from Stoke Gardens at approximately 11.10pm on Thursday 25 August.

Meanwhile at 11.50pm on Thursday 25 August police believe the same offenders attempted to steal a motorbike from the driveway of a property on Princes Road.

However the offender was disturbed by the occupant, he then got onto the back of a moped and the rider travelled towards Overpool Road. The pair were in company with two other males who were also travelling on one moped.

Detectives are appealing for anyone with information, CCTV or dash cam footage of the offenders to get in contact.

Detective Constable Tom Davies, of Ellesmere Port local policing unit, said: “We believe the three incidents are all linked to four offenders on mopeds and I am keen to hear from residents in these areas if they have information, CCTV or dash cam footage that could help to identify them.

“I also want to appeal to anyone who may know where the two stolen bikes are to please get in touch.

“I want to advise members of the public to be extra vigilant when securing their motorbikes and to report any suspicious behaviour as soon as possible.”

There are numerous ways to help keep a motorbike secure including:

  • Using a lock, chain or cover
  • Ensure the keys have been removed
  • Fit an alarm to act as a deterrent to thieves
  • Property mark as much of the motorbike as possible
  • When at home keep the motorbike in a garage or shed if possible

If you have information, CCTV or dash cam footage please contact Cheshire Constabulary online at:
