Appeal following robbery in Chester

Detectives are urging witnesses to come forward following a robbery and assault in Chester.

At around 6.50pm on Wednesday 3 April two men walked into an alleyway next to the Post Office on St John Street.

Whilst in the alleyway one of the men punched the other one in the face and stole a quantity of cash from him.

The offender then fled down an alleyway towards Pizza Express.

He is described as white, around 40 years old, approximately 6’ tall with a proportionate build. He was wearing a grey Parka-style coat with a fur-lined hood and a baseball cap.

The victim, a 46-year-old man from Chester, sustained a minor facial injury as a result of the incident that did not require hospital treatment.

Enquiries in relation to the incident are ongoing and detectives are appealing for anyone who was in the area and witnessed anything that may aid their investigation to get in touch.

They also want to speak to anyone who believes they may know who the offender is.

Detective Constable Scott Buckley said: “The victim was subjected to a frightening ordeal.

“He only sustained a minor facial injury during the robbery but the consequences of the assault could have been far worse.

“I would like to reassure the community that it is believed to have been an isolated incident and we are determined to catch the offender and make him face the consequences of his actions.

“Enquiries are ongoing and as part of our investigation we want to hear from anyone who was in the area and witnessed what happened, or anything else that may be relevant.

“We also want to speak to anyone who believes they may know the identity of the offender.”
