Final preparations are underway as a group of daring actors get ready to "bare all" as part of the staging of a Broadway musical based on the smash hit film "The Full Monty".
Staged by D&S Productions, "The Full Monty" will run at The Gladstone Theatre in Port Sunlight from Wednesday 11th May to Saturday 14th May at 7.30pm. Based on the famous 1997 British film about 6 unemployed steel workers from Sheffield who set out to make their fortune by stripping "for one night only" and going "the full monty", the action in the musical is set in Buffalo, New York State, USA. With music and lyrics by David Yazbek, the original production first opened on Broadway in 2000 with the West End production opening at The Prince of Wales Theatre in 2002. The show has subsequently been performed worldwide including in Australia, Canada, South Africa, Italy and Japan. The show at The Gladstone Theatre will be directed for D&S Productions by Kriss Hubbard with musical direction by Craig Price.
Playing the men who are daring to "bare all" are local actors Kyle Hickman, Mike Jenkinson-Deakin, Solomon Adams, Damian Riverol, Courtney Gabbidon and Chris Doyle.
Speaking about the upcoming production at The Gladstone Theatre, the show's director Kriss Hubbard said "It has been an absolute pleasure to direct D&S Productions extremely hard-working cast to produce such a high quality and relatable production. The story follows the 6 men in their journey to ‘Let it Go’ and each of the 6 gents playing the roles have had no qualms in getting their kit off in the rehearsals and are eager to get to The Gladstone, Port Sunlight to prove that Buffalo men really do go the whole way. The supporting cast have supported the guys and they also perform sublimely, it really is a team effort. I look forward to audiences flooding in to watch the show and most importantly seeing the beaming smiles on the faces of my talented cast.”
