A new youth club is launching in Chester.
With funding from residents, local business and borough councillors, The Heath is a new youth club set up in Upton-by-Chester following years of preparation for children in years seven and above (aged 10/11+).
Cheshire West Councillor Adam Langan, cabinet member for children and young families, said:
“As youth clubs have closed across the country The Heath is bucking the trend and is exciting for young people in Upton and Chester. I can’t wait to visit and see it in action.”
The club will be operating out of Upton's United Reformed Church on Heath Road with a team of employed staff and volunteers and will be open Fridays 6.30pm - 8.30pm during school term time.
For children for whom the school day can be hard or stressful, The Heath will be their safe space to take it easy, play ping pong, video games, or learn new skills such as making pizza or arts and crafts.
Upton ward councillor Sherin Akhtar said:
"On Friday 10th November, The Heath will open its doors to press, trustees, donors and and local dignitaries to celebrate its opening."
