After a two week break, Chester Rugby Club were back on the road to play National League 2 North leaders Sedgley Park who had won all of their 16 league games played at home and away this season…so Chester’s biggest challenge of the season for Head Coach Guy Ford’s team!

The game got off to a good start for Chester with a try from Harrison Vare which was converted by Liam Reeve to make the score 0-10. The Tigers hit back with a try and conversion to make the score 7-10, before going ahead further with another try and conversion at 14-10.  Chester came back with a conversion from Liam Reeve to make the half time score 14-13!

Into the second half and the Tigers went further ahead with a try but they missed a conversion and the score was 19-13. Chester did hit back with a try from Alick Croft who had come off the bench, to make the score 19-18 but unfortunately, Chester couldn’t convert to take the lead.  Into the final five minutes and with Chester pushing to win the game which created more space on the pitch, the Tigers struck to increase their lead to 26-18 and they sealed their win with another try to make the final score 31-18.

Dee Sport's Steve Lord caught up with Head Coach Guy Ford for his thoughts on the game...
