Alyn and Deeside MP Mark Tami met some of the children at Busy Bees Nursery, in Ewloe, last Friday.
The nursery has 40 staff and 150 children on roll, from babies until school age, and offers Early Entitlement and Flying Start provision.
Mr Tami was impressed with the site’s facilities and staff. Each age group has a dedicated classroom and access to a large outside area with lots of toys, play equipment and shaded areas. Robust systems for children with allergies and specific risk assessments for each child are in place. Children are encouraged to talk about their feelings, and the Welsh language is valued and implemented in ways relevant to each developmental stage.
Centre director Barbara Karda said:
“Those children who come here, when they go to school they are ahead of their peers in terms of social skills. 85% of staff are level 3 qualified or above and we have two teachers.
“We have high quality staff and invest heavily in training, we support our staff with the Virtual Learning Academy and take apprentices from Coleg Cambria.”
Among the staff at the Ewloe branch is Mary Rees-Williams, who apart from Busy Bees co-founder Marg Randles, has been with the global company the longest with an impressive 32 years of service.
Mark Tami MP said:
I had a lovely visit to Busy Bees today and would like to say thank you to the children who made my fantastic card and for the very warm welcome to this fantastic childcare setting.”
