Cheshire West and Chester Council is using the latest technology and installing metal propping to secure the section of Chester’s historic City Walls that collapsed in January 2020.
The Council has released a video showing an update on the work taking place showing how technology is monitoring the precious ancient monument while propping is taking place in phase one of the works.
The video can be viewed on the Council’s You Tube channel.
Councillor Karen Shore, Deputy Leader and Cabinet Member for Environment, Highways and Strategic Transport said: “It is fascinating to see on the video how advanced survey technology is being used to monitor any movement in the Walls while works take place to repair the collapsed section. The works will create a temporary walkway for people to access this section of the walls, which will hopefully be completed before Christmas this year.
“I’d like to take this opportunity to say a most sincere thank you to residents, businesses and visitors for their patience and support while this project progresses.”
