Police have confirmed a woman has died after falling from a bridge over the M53.
Officers were contacted at 00:55 this morning (Tuesday 29th May) to reports that someone had fallen onto the southbound carriageway.
It is believed she may have also been struck by a vehicle.
She was pronounced dead at the scene, is yet to be formally identified and her next of kin are in the process of being informed.
The road was closed in both directions between junctions 4 and 5 throughout the morning rush hour.
Highways England only fully reopened the road just after midday.
