Final rehearsals are underway as a local theatre company prepares to stage an iconic West End and Broadway musical.
Wirral based D&S Productions are set to stage much loved musical "RENT" at The Brindley in Runcorn from Wednesday 10th - Saturday 13th May at 7.30pm. A Matinee performance will also be staged at 2.30pm on Saturday 13th May. The production will be directed for D&S productions by Donna Dale with musical direction by Craig Price.
With music and lyrics by the late Jonathan Larson, "RENT" first opened on Broadway in 1996 and quickly became a cultural phenomenon. The musical tells the story of a group of young artists living in New York City's East Village in the late 1980s, struggling to pursue their dreams while navigating the challenges of poverty, AIDS, and social injustice. With its powerful and emotionally charged rock and roll-infused score, "RENT" explores themes of love, friendship, and the human spirit in the face of adversity.
Speaking about staging "RENT", the show's director, Donna Dale, Chair of D&S Productions said "We are so excited to bring this iconic musical to the stage. Jonathan Larson's 'RENT' continues to resonate with audiences around the world, and we are honoured to be able to share this powerful story with our community."
Craig Price, the show's Musical Director said "The score of 'RENT' is truly a work of art, and it is a joy to work with such talented musicians and actors to bring this production to life. We are confident that audiences will be moved by the music, the story, and the powerful performances of our cast."
