On Thursday 26th October, the Brio Leisure team travelled to the Ukactive Awards in Leeds having been nominated for two awards, the Regional Centre of the Year and Marketing Campaign of the Year.
Brio Leisure, a wholly owned company of Cheshire West and Chester Council won the 2019 Ukactive ‘Organisation of the Year’ award and the company are so pleased to have been recognised in a number of categories again this year.
The Ukactive Awards are the ultimate recognition of achievement in the physical activity sector and are a great opportunity for service providers across the UK to come together and celebrate all the great work taking place within the industry. During the evening, Winsford Lifestyle Centre were crowned the North’s ‘Regional Centre of the Year’! A huge, well-deserved achievement for the whole team!
Matthew Parker, Brio Leisure Managing Director was thrilled with the results of the evening and said:
‘We are delighted that Winsford Lifestyle Centre won the Regional Club of the Year award.
The award is a testament to all the people who make the facility great – this includes our wonderful staff and loyal customers. The diverse range of health and wellbeing activities and services provided at Winsford Lifestyle Centre are specifically programmed so that they cater for the whole community; and whenever I set foot into the building I am amazed at the warm, welcoming, safe yet vibrant environment that greets me.’
Winsford Lifestyle Centre is at the heart of the community. Members can take advantage of a wide range of swimming activities, over 70 fitness classes each week, racquet sports and gym workouts with personal training too. The centre underwent some recent improvements, following customer feedback and have created an additional gym space called ‘The Box’.

‘The Box has been excellent. The quality of the kit deployed has been great. It’s been a refreshing investment that has seen me change my membership from monthly to annual’.
The team are also extremely active within the local community, attending events and fundraisers such as the Race for Life at Delamere Forest delivering the warm-up, annual wellbeing events, community walks, and visiting schools and youth community centres to deliver valuable information on water safety, all whilst hosting several key events within the centre too.
It is important to recognise that there are many key users and partner organisations that Brio work with to improve the health and wellbeing of the local community, this includes Winsford Amateur Swimming Club; Motherwell Cheshire, Wellbeing Winsford; Winsford Town Council, Winsford Care Community (CCICP), Cheshire West and Chester Council (Holiday Activities and Food delivery programme) and many more. Collectively, they are delivering and being proactive to remove barriers for people to improve their health and wellbeing.
Kerry Goryl, Operations Director said:
‘Winsford Lifestyle Centre winning Centre of the year is an incredible achievement. We were up against some excellent leisure facilities in the North of England, so to be named the best centre in the region is fantastic.
The team has worked extremely hard to attract and accommodate new and existing users since the Covid-19 pandemic, which has seen the centre really thrive and establish itself as a key focal point within the heart of the community.’
