A children’s adventure park and luxury forest cabins are among the top attractions in Cheshire.
Exotic birdlife, luxurious forest lodges and a children’s adventure wonderland are among the fantastic new experiences for day trips and short breaks in Cheshire in 2021.
BeWILDerwood, the award-winning forest of family fun and outdoor adventures, will open its second venue in south Cheshire in spring 2021. Just like the well-loved Norfolk original, BeWILDerwood Cheshire will feature Treehouses, Wobbly Wires, Slippery Slopes, Crocklebogs, Twiggles and Boggles. Go to https://cheshire.bewilderwood.co.uk.
Forest Holidays is taking bookings for its latest location, Delamere Forest, in the heart of Cheshire. Sixty-seven light-footprint cabins will open at the northern end of the ancient woodland on 2 April 2021, making it possible to stay beneath Delamere’s canopy for the very first time. There are five styles of cabin to choose from, including treehouses, with the forest framed by walls of window, plus luxuries including hot tubs and outdoor pizza ovens. Chester Zoo celebrates its 90th birthday in 2021 and special anniversary events will include the opening of the Latin American Wetland Aviary in March. Some of the region’s most precious birds will be available to spot, from Caribbean flamingos to scarlet ibis, at the immersive walk-through experience which seeks to recreate the atmosphere of these wetland habitats. Plus, in line with the zoo’s role as a world-leading conservation centre, along the way there will be the chance to learn about the different species and efforts to preserve them. Go to www.chesterzoo.org.
Chester Boat will offer wine-tasting cruises for the first time in 2021. The special sailings, on summer evenings in June, July and August, will be led by an expert from the Wine School of Cheshire (https://cheshire.wine). The cruises will be held onboard the Lady Diana, the company’s flagship vessel, which was built for the River Dee and celebrates its 40th birthday in 2021. Go to www.chesterboat.co.uk.
Carden Park, the luxury country hotel near Chester, will open an Adventure Ropes Course in its grounds in 2021, featuring obstacles such as ladders, bridges and high walkways before a final long drop down a climbing wall. Vouchers are due to go on sale soon. The new high ropes course adds to other attractions on the 1,000-acre estate, including a new state-of-the-art spa, two 18-hole golf courses, swimming pool, tennis courts, off-road motoring and cycling experiences and more.
