Chester FC are delighted to announce the signing of forward Darren Stephenson.
The 28-year-old, who can play as a left winger or striker, has penned a one-year deal at the Deva Stadium and is yet another exciting capture by the Blues Joint Bosses Bern and Jonno.
Darren spent 2020/21 at fellow National League North side Curzon Ashton. Once the season was curtailed, he went on to join FC Halifax Town on loan – making four appearances and scoring one goal – against Chesterfield on the final day of the National League campaign.
The Jamaican-born attacker kicked off his career at Bradford City and has since had spells at Chorley, Tranmere Rovers, AFC Fylde and Stockport County.
During his time with the Hatters, Stephenson made 71 appearances and scored ten goals – being a part of the side that clinched promotion from this division back in 2019.
Speaking on their latest exciting signing, Jonno had this to say: “We’re absolutely delighted to welcome Darren to the club.
“He’s someone me and Bern have been chasing for a number of years, so get him done along with the other new lads means we’ve got every player in we wanted to sign.
“Darren is very quick and strong (Joel Taylor can attest to that from last season), gets a ridiculous number of assists but also has a keen eye for goal.
“He actually scored more goals than Akwasi Asante in the season Akwasi had his best ever season.”
