With temperatures expected to remain around twenty nine degrees Celsius for the remainder of the week, Dee Valley Water have issued a safety warning.
Sunshine and high temperatures are expected to remain across the region for the next few days, however Dee Valley Water are advising local people to be cautious in the heat.
In particular, they are advising people not take a dip in local reservoirs, however tempting it may be to do so.
Doug Clarke, efficiency manager for the company, has issued a warning about the potential dangers of swimming in their reservoirs across the whole of Cheshire.
“Obviously swimming in open water, and in reservoirs, can look cool and inviting for swimmers. However there are actually very strong currents underneath the water, and it is very dangerous to swim in these environments.
“Even strong swimmers can get into trouble in these situations.”
Drowning in the UK is one of the leading causes of accidental death, and according to recent data from Cheshire Fire and Rescue, more than 300 people drown after tripping, falling or just by underestimating the risks associated with being near water each year.
