Volunteers from the Litter Picking for Deeside group, supported by Flint Litter Pickers and residents, have successfully improved the appearance of the area between Queensferry and Pentre.
On the morning of 15th February, they collected an impressive 61 bags of litter, contributing to the ongoing effort to keep Flintshire clean and attractive for its residents and visitors.
This area had previously been cleared just a year ago, with 65 bags collected, highlighting that the issue of littering persists and continues to be a blight on local communities. Despite these challenges, the groups are undeterred and remain committed to addressing the litter problem head-on.
The morning session was followed by an afternoon effort from Morrison Energy Services, who joined the group and collected an additional 30 bags, bringing the total number of bags removed from the area that day to 91.
We are appealing to those people who continue to litter, urging them to stop and consider the impact of their actions on the environment and local communities. Removing litter and fly-tips is costly, especially if traffic management is required to ensure worker safety. These funds could be better spent elsewhere in the community. The sooner we all act to reduce littering, the better for everyone.
The litter picking groups are inclusive and welcoming, and always appreciate any help or support, no matter how big or small a contribution people wish to make. They encourage others to join the effort and make their communities a cleaner, greener place.
You can follow their progress and efforts on their social media pages and find out more about how to get involved:
Looking ahead, we are excited to announce that Spring Clean Cymru is just around the corner, running from 21st March to 6th April 2025. We will be promoting all group litter-picking activities across Flintshire taking place during this period, inviting anyone interested to get involved and join the effort.
If you are an individual, a business, school, or organisation willing to get involved or organise group litter pick of your own, please contact:
keepflintshiretidy@flintshire.gov.uk
We will be delighted to assist and ensure that your activity goes smoothly.
Together, we can outnumber those who litter and make a lasting, positive change for our environment.
Join us in keeping Flintshire tidy!
