Chester-based chartered surveyors and commercial property consultancy Bolton Birch has relet and completely refurbished 19 Bridge Street Row in Chester,after over 20 years as an Oxfam charity shop.
The new let is to Harley’s Vintage Boutique which has an existing retail outlet in Llangollen. Harley’s new Chester shop opened on 25th March, the first in England and will sell vintage clothing for men and women including Barbour and Harris Tweed jackets, Levi’s, quality designer and natural fabric items.
Martin Dodd, Director at Bolton Birch said;
“On behalf of the landlord and with their permission, we were able to renovate this fantastic retail opportunity on the historic Bridge Street Rows, which was handed back showing its decades of occupation as a charity shop, before reletting it to a valued independent retailer. In addition, we’ve uncovered the timber beams and restored the fireplace. The refurbishment has transformed the shop from something non-descript to create a shop with character and heritage befitting its location in Chester’s World Heritage Rows.”
He added; “This is a much needed letting on Row level, right in the retail heart of Chester where we need to increase the number of quality independent retailers and add value, appeal and spending opportunities for visitors and locals alike. We are looking for more.”
Harley at Harley’s Vintage Boutique added;
“We can’t believe our luck with the refurb of the building, it’s beautiful and really compliments our vintage stock. Our opening this weekend was full of positivity and encouragement with lots of compliments about the shop. We had many people saying that Chester was crying out for a store like ours so the early signs are great. We really look forward to building up our following like we have in Llangollen and being part of the Chester retail community, who have also been extremely welcoming.”
