Villagers are up in arms over a proposed 18 m tall mast in the centre of Vicars Cross.
Telecoms giant Three UK Ltd had considered nine other locations before submitting the one in front of the church on a busy junction for planning approval.
The selected location is close to a school and pre-school and will dominate the landscape with the equipment cabinets taking up space on the footpath.
The residents cannot understand the choice of location as there are other nearby locations on the adjacent A41 dual carriageway which has wide verges and is more than 200m from the schools.
Time is running out to comment on the planning application Ref: 21/01223/TEL which closes on the 28th April.
