Another Bank Holiday weekend has gone by, and as anticipated, it was extremely busy across the district due to the increases in footfall across North Wales.
Although it has been busy, I am pleased to say that overall, we team have pulled together to achieve some good work.
Whilst the majority of residents and visitors have been well behaved and enjoyed the weekend, a small minority of people have sadly caused some incidents of concern.
The main one being the disorder at the JD Cymru Premier fixture between Flint Town United and Caernarfon Town at the Essity Stadium in Flint. The game got off to an excellent start, only for it to be abandoned following an incident within the crowd.
A man who was seriously injured during the incident remains in hospital in a stable condition and the team and I wish him a speedy recovery.
I am pleased to say three arrests have been made for wounding and violent disorder and we will continue to take robust action against any further individuals that are identified as being involved.
Our teams will also be increasing their visible presence at future matches to prevent any further disorder and I will be making contact with the Welsh FA and Flint Town United in due course to agree a way forward for future games.
In other news, foot patrols, with support from the drone team, were carried out last week in Wepre Park, Garden City, Queensferry, Connahs Quay, Shotton, Holywell and Flint. Whilst out and about, officers located two wanted individuals in Flint and Holywell. Officers will continue to provide high visibility foot patrols at places of interest.
I am also seeking to put additional focus on high impact crimes such as domestic abuse, burglary, hate crime, and any other crimes where groups are disproportionately, or more likely, to be impacted.
As an example, we will be seeking to put measures in place to prevent, reduce and put a stop to Violence Against Women and Girls (VAWG). Our team have enhanced the response provided to domestic abuse, improved the support and safeguarding available to victims or potential victims as well as increased our scrutiny to prevent missed opportunities to bring those involved to justice.
I am also asking for your assistance in locating Daniel Aston, 27, from the Connah’s Quay area who is wanted on warrant. Sightings or info about his whereabouts can be made via the webs:
Live chat | North Wales Police
...or by calling 101, quoting reference 23000179078.
As we increase the focus and intensity to catch wanted individuals, I would ask that if you are a family member or friend that doesn't want the embarrassment and inconvenience of officers coming to visit you in connection to a wanted person enquiry, please encourage them to make contact or hand themselves in.
