Detectives from Chester CID have charged two men following a serious assault in the city centre.
At around 3.15am on Sunday 13 August police were called to reports that a man had been assaulted near to the junction of Bridge Street and Pepper Street.
Officers attended the scene and found that the 32-year-old man had suffered a slash wound to his face. The man was taken to hospital for treatment and has since been discharged.
Following enquiries officers arrested two men in connection with the incident. Falez Hamad, 24, and 21-year-old Hassen Benslimmen, both of no fixed abode, have since been charged in relation to the assault.
Hamad has been charged with section 18 assault and possession of a bladed article, while Benslimmen has been charged with possession of an offensive weapon.
The pair have been remanded in custody and are set to appear at Chester Crown Court on Monday 14 August.
As part of their ongoing enquiries officers are keen to hear from any motorists or taxi drivers who were in the area between 3.10am and 3.20am on 13 August, and may have witnessed the incident or have dashcam footage of the assault.
