One of Chester's top male voice choirs is set to be joined by one of North Wales' top flight brass bands for a special concert at Chester Town Hall.
Chester Male Voice Choir will be joined on stage by the Royal Buckley Town Band for the choir's Autumn Festival Concert on Wednesday 16th October at 7pm. The concert will feature songs from the shows, marches, light classical music and much-loved favourites from the repertoires of both the choir and band. Chester Male Voice Choir will be directed by Joe Mann and accompanied by pianist Helen Jackson whilst Royal Buckley Town Band will be under the musical direction of Keith Gorton Jones.
Established in 1822, Royal Buckley is one of the oldest known brass bands in Great Britain. It is one of only four brass bands to proudly have the 'Royal Title' bestowed. The band performs all styles of music, from traditional brass band repertoire to arrangements of modern pop songs and more. Royal Buckley play at many concerts, fetes, galas, civic celebrations, contests, charity events, rugby & football games throughout the year.
Formed in 1941 as The Cestrian Male Voice Choir, Chester Male Voice Choir is an award winning and much sought-after choir with a repertoire comprising an eclectic mix of musical genres. Since its first overseas tour to Prague in 1971 the choir has undertaken concert tours abroad to Germany, Holland, the United States of America, France and Malta and has also toured extensively in the U.K. The choir has sung in the presence of Her Late Majesty Queen Elizabeth II and other members of the Royal Family and has made several recordings in addition to numerous TV and Radio appearances.
The special Autumn Festival Concert forms part of a busy season of events for both Chester Male Voice Choir and Royal Buckley Town Band and will be a unique opportunity to see them performing together.
Speaking about the concert, Ron Webster, the Chairman of Chester Male Voice Choir said:
