One of Chester's top choirs is set to stage the first event of its new season with a concert featuring favourite songs from its repertoire.
Now in its 49th year, Chester Bach Singers will launch its 2025/26 season at The Wesley Methodist Church Centre in Chester with a concert on Saturday 18th October at 4pm.
The concert will be conducted by the choir's Musical Director Emma Baker, with accompaniment by Pianist Catherine Barnet.
Entitled "CBS Favourites Past & Present", the concert will feature performances of songs which have become part of the choir's signature repertoire, and which are popular with choir and audience members alike. The varied programme includes Bach's Komm Jesus Komm and Stanford's beloved motets alongside new works by Judith Bingham, Samuel Barber, Kevin Siegfried and others.
Chester Bach Singers will also be returning to the historic surroundings of St Werburgh's Church in Chester for its annual Christmas Concert. Entitled "We Make Joy", the concert on Saturday 13th December at 3.00pm, will feature popular Christmas Carols alongside seasonal favourites by Mendelssohn, Walton and more. Admission to the special seasonal event also includes light refreshments following the concert.
In the run up to rehearsals for the Christmas concert, potential new members will be welcome to attend an open rehearsal on Wednesday 22 October 2025, at the King's School in Chester at 7.30 pm.
In addition to its series of concerts, the choir is also preparing to host a special workshop lead by acclaimed composer Will Todd who is best known for his contemporary Jazz works.
