A nursery and pre-school in Saughall has used its time in lockdown to good effect, creating a brand new outdoor classroom and adding new characterful animals to their onsite farm.
The team from Chestnut House Day Nursery and Pre-School, on Church Road, Saughall have created a range of interactive spaces in their large garden zone, to help offer increased social distancing and outdoor learning options for their staff and children, following the outbreak.
The nursery and pre-school which has a registration for 82 children and over 20 staff, continued to be open throughout the COVID-19 pandemic, helping to care for children of Key Workers and vulnerable families from the local area.
In addition to improvements made to their outdoor play space, three new pigs were added to the enclosed farm areas, which are also home to an array of ducks and chickens.
Louise Hassall, manager of Chestnut House, said: “With everyone so restricted over the past six months, it felt right to make the best use of the large outdoor space here at Chestnut House.
“In addition to the existing mud kitchen and playground, which are very popular, the garden area gives the children a chance to use their gross motor skills by running, jumping and playing. The outdoor classroom offers fresh air fun and learning at the same time - we are thrilled with the outcome!”
