Chester’s most magical attraction, The Hole In Wand located on Eastgate in the heart of the city has been closed since Saturday 11th January due to flooding.
The mini golf attraction which opened in May 2024 as part of the magical drinks company, The Potions Cauldron Group’s expansion plan, has fallen victim to the cities complicated piping and the incorrect disposal of fat and grease from nearby restaurants.
The floods have been caused due to pipes blocking with fat and grease from neighbouring properties which led to a second flood accruing on 28th January causing further damage.
The attraction’s contents have now been emptied and the flooring is currently been removed for the site to dry out before it is then rebuilt. Sadly only certain structures have been saved with many of the elements having to be disposed of.
It is hoped that the attraction will be ready to reopen at some point between April and June, all staff have been retained with some moved to one of the companies sister sites, The Hole In Wand Blackpool.
Managing Director, Stuart Jarman said:
“We are saddened that the attraction has closed due to no fault of our own. However we have a fantastic team in Chester and at Wizard HQ who are already rising to the challenge to reopen as soon as possible. Ensuring that the flood would not happen again has been time consuming but we are now at a stage of removal, ready for rebuild. We will also now take this opportunity to re-imagine and improve on the offering at The Hole In Wand Chester following the feedback we received from visitors during 2024 and we look forward to a huge celebration when we do reopen!’.
