The 14th Grosvenor Museum Open Art Exhibition returns in January 2022.
The exhibition has built up a reputation for presenting the best in contemporary art. Artists from across the country are invited to apply for a chance to display their work. The exhibition will open on 7 January until 6 April 2022.
A total of £1,850 will be awarded in prizes. The First Prize is £1,000, with a Second Prize of £500 and a Third Prize of £250. Visitors to the exhibition will also be able to vote for their favourite work, and the Visitors’ Choice will win £100.
Bringing in days to the Museum are 10 and 11 December, 10.30am to 5pm. Selections for the exhibition will be made by Maggie Jackson, University of Chester Art Dept Research Fellow, Patricia MacKinnon-Day, Artist, Isabelle Weaver-Jones, Young Director, West Cheshire Museums and Elizabeth Montgomery, Senior Curator, West Cheshire Museums.
Councillor Louise Gittins, Leader of Cheshire West and Chester Council said: “I’d like to dedicate our 14th Open Art Exhibition to the memory of Peter Boughton, the Museum's Keeper of Art who sadly passed away in 2019. Peter was passionate about everything he did, and he was particularly proud of the Open Art Exhibition, he set a very high standard, and I’m sure the selected pieces will meet his critical approval.
“This is always a popular event with up to 300 artists submitting their work for previous exhibitions. Entries are welcome from across the country, what a fantastic way to welcome 2022.”
