Choosing the University of Chester through the Clearing process has paid dividends for a soon-to-be-graduate who has been awarded a First Class degree.
Talia Kayne impressed lecturers with her commitment and self-belief and was offered a place to study Events Management at the University’s Business School.
The opportunity to join Chester was a springboard for Talia to excel, repaying her tutors’ confidence in her abilities to make the most of her university experience. Her student career has seen her volunteer for many community events, including what her tutors describe as an “outstanding” fund-raiser to benefit Chester Women’s Aid that Talia designed, planned, organised and ran along with four fellow students in their second year of her studies.
The move to online learning during the pandemic has boosted the level of tutor/student engagement over the last few months. This ranged from formal teaching and individual tutorials to more informal fun get-togethers, such as quiz nights. The Events Management students have risen to the challenge of hosting virtual events, which they will need to have experience of in their professional lives.
Dr Tim Brown, Programme Leader, Events Management at the University’s Business School, said: “It was an easy decision for us to accept Talia straight on to the degree. Since day one she has excelled in both her studies and engagement with the events industry, actively volunteering and working on events. It has been a pleasure to see her grow in confidence and ability throughout her time with us.”
Tim said Talia’s tenacity and diligence, as well as her active engagement with tutors, bode well for a bright future to follow.
Talia added: “These things are meant to be and coming to Chester was not only the best choice, but part fate too! It has been an amazing experience throughout my studies, and I have made some fantastic friends – both students and staff.”
