Crafts, a beat the keeper challenge, biscuit decorating, photo booth, tombola and raffle are some of the activities families can enjoy at a charity fun day in Chester organised by students this half term holiday.
The University of Chester Events Management students are hosting the Chester Family Dayscape at Northgate Church, Upper Northgate Street, on Wednesday February 23, which is raising money and awareness for The Children’s Society.
The Dayscape Entertainment team of three students, Sarah Sturman, Jack Sanderson and Shannon Williams, is inviting people to the fun-filled event, including entertainment and refreshments, running between 11am and 3pm. Tickets are only £5 per child, including food and a prize on the way out. Adults and all children under three years old go free.
All proceeds will go to The Children’s Society which runs services across the country, providing support for vulnerable children and young people, including those suffering neglect, abuse and exploitation, children who go missing, those in care, those struggling with their well-being and mental health, and young refugees
The charity is currently working to respond to the new challenges many children and young people are facing as a result of successive lockdowns, and the difficulties and dangers made worse by the pandemic. The Children’s Society also campaigns and lobbies for changes in policies and laws to better protect children and improve their lives.
Sarah Sturman, Team Leader of Dayscape Entertainment, said: “We have worked hard to pull everything together for our event and are extremely excited to be raising much-needed funds for a charity as brilliant as The Children’s Society. Please come along and support what promises to be a great day.”
Joanne Nicholson, The Children’s Society’s Cheshire-based Community Relationship Manager, added: “We hugely appreciate the amazing efforts of these kind-hearted students to raise vital funds on our behalf.
“We couldn’t do nearly as much to help some of the country’s most vulnerable children and young people without the generous support of local communities.
“I would urge students and local people and families alike to get down to the church and join in the fun.”
