Sam Rowlands, Member of the Welsh Parliament for North Wales, is delighted to see seven parks receiving prestigious Green Flag Awards in North-East Wales.
Mr Rowlands, Chair of the Senedd’s Cross-Party Group on Tourism, was commenting after it was announced that Wepre Park, Greenfield Valley, and Bailey Hill in Flintshire and Alyn Waters, Ponciau Banks, Belleview Park and Tŷ Mawr in Wrexham had received Green Flag Awards for 2025.
He said:
“I am absolutely delighted to see all these popular parks receiving national recognition for being some of the UK’s best green spaces. Not only is it good news for local people who use the facility but it certainly helps to keep North Wales firmly on the tourist map.
“I am always happy to promote any attractions in my region and particularly those which hold the Green Flag Award which is the benchmark for parks and green spaces in the UK and beyond.
“Congratulations must go to both Flintshire and Wrexham councils along with everyone else involved in helping to maintain and improve these spaces for us all to enjoy.”
The Green Flag Award scheme in Wales is run by Keep Wales Tidy and is an international mark of quality given to parks and green spaces which meet high environmental standards, are well maintained, and offer excellent visitor facilities.
The Award is all about connecting people with the very best parks and green spaces and wherever you see a Green Flag, you know you’re visiting an exceptional place with the highest standards.
Keep Wales Tidy Chief Executive, Owen Derbyshire said:
“We’re delighted to see 315 green spaces across Wales awarded Green Flag and Green Flag Community status this year - a real testament to the hard work and dedication of those who care for these special places.”
