Chester and Ellesmere Port school leavers can get help and support with the cost of living crisis as well as taking the first steps into their career.
New Leaf and Springboard Cheshire are free programmes helping to get people into work across Cheshire and Warrington. Free events are being held in Chester and Ellesmere Port for young people to find out more about the programmes.
New Leaf is part of the Building Better Opportunities (BBO) Programme, funded by the European Social Fund, with match funding from The National Lottery Community Fund. Springboard Cheshire is funded by the European Social Fund, with match funding from delivery partners and strategic partners.
Following A-Level results, many young people are off to university but for some, there is uncertainty about what to do next.
New Leaf and Springboard Cheshire can help these young people to find good employment and a career that is right for them. Working with a mentor on the programme they will get personally tailored advice and guidance, including on money and help with bills as well as career advice.
The Next Steps careers events are being held:
- From 1pm to 3pm on Thursday, September 15 at the Bluecoat Centre In Chester
- From 1pm to 3pm on Thursday, September 15 at the Holiday Inn in Ellesmere Port
People will get the chance to find out the range of support Springboard Cheshire and New Leaf can provide, what sort of jobs are out there right now and how to sign-up.
Andy Rawlins, project manager for New Leaf and Springboard Cheshire said: “This is an uncertain time for many young people – not just because they have just got their results and may not be sure what’s next but also because of soaring prices and economic uncertainty that will be impacting them and their family.
“Our New Leaf and Springboard Cheshire programmes are all about helping people who aren’t currently working to not just get a job but get into a good career that is right for them. While we are here to help people of all ages, we know young people may need that extra bit of help right now.
“As well as helping them to know what career options are out there for them, we can make sure they are accessing all the money help available to them. If you are interested in finding out more, or know someone who is, please come along to the event.”
The events are free to attend and there is no need to register in advance.
