The number 41 bus service will continue for another year, providing a fantastic service between Chester and Whitchurch and providing public transport access for communities in the southern part of the borough.
There is lots to see in this beautiful part of Cheshire, from pretty villages to historic Chester, and the ancient market town of Whitchurch. Walkers might take advantage of easy access to the Sandstone trail at various points on the route.
New operator D&G Bus will be operating the route from 2 September on behalf of Cheshire West and Chester Council. Despite rising costs, the Council is committed to providing the service for local communities so the service is now provided through the use of its Bus Service Improvement Plan Plus (BSIP+) funding.
The Council’s Leader, Councillor Louise Gittins has said:
“In addition to leisure, the service 41 is a lifeline for many people who live in communities adjacent to the A41, and is important for journeys to work, shopping, medical appointments as well as playing a key role in helping young people get to and from schools.
“Great days out – try a trip on the 41 and enjoy the ride!”
Fares will be competitive, and the Council has approached the Department for Transport to enquire if the service can be included in the £2 maximum single fare scheme which applies until the end of the year.
The service will also be great for young people who wish to travel independently.
A special £3 day ticket will be available for anyone up to their nineteenth birthday and a £12 scholar’s weekly ticket can also be used on Saturdays.
