Samantha Dixon, Member of Parliament for the City of Chester, received her MBE for political services to Chester on 3rd October.
The honour was awarded to Mrs Dixon by The Princess Royal at an Investiture held at Windsor Castle.
Samantha was elected as the Member of Parliament for the City of Chester in December 2022. Prior to this, she served as a local authority councillor representing residents in Chester city centre for twelve years (2011-2023).
She was the first female leader of Cheshire West and Chester Council, holding the post from 2015 to 2019. During this time, she was instrumental in delivering Storyhouse, establishing the first council-led Poverty Truth Commission in the country, and helped to bring forward the first phase of the Northgate Development which includes Chester’s popular new market hall.
Mrs Dixon was honoured for her public services in Her Late Majesty Queen Elizabeth’s 2022 Platinum Jubilee Honours list.
Commenting on receiving the MBE, she said:
“I am deeply honoured and humbled to receive this award. Chester is truly a unique city, and it is my home. It is the honour of my life to be able to represent it first as a councillor and the Leader of the Council and now as the Member of Parliament for the City of Chester.
“I love my job and, for me, serving my constituents will always be my priority.
“It was such a special day, and I was pleased to have shared it with my family.”
