The second Learning Disability Conference is taking place at Ellesmere Port Civic Hall on Tuesday 12th September, providing an opportunity for people with learning disabilities to discuss what matters to them and help shape the support they receive.
After the success of the first event of its kind in west Cheshire last year, the Learning Disability Conference is back for 2023.
Alongside guest speakers and workshops to discuss topics like learning disability day services, meaningful friendships and relationships and more, there will be entertainment from people with learning disabilities throughout the day.
The main conference will be held from 10.30am to around 5.30pm, before a gala dinner takes places from 6pm to 9pm to round off the celebrations.
Councillor Sheila Little, Cabinet Member for Adult Social Care, said:
“We’re delighted to be holding this special event for the second year running.
“The first Learning Disability Conference was a real success, selling out and providing an opportunity for a range of people to come together to discuss the support we provide for people with learning disabilities.
“We’re currently looking at the day services we provide locally for people with learning disabilities to make sure they’re what people want and need.
“This is another great opportunity for anyone interested in these services to have their say and influence the support we provide moving forward.
“Whether you currently access learning disability services, support people with learning disabilities or are linked to services in another way, I’d encourage as many people as possible to book their places at the Learning Disability Conference.
“I’m sure it’ll be another fantastic event that everyone will take a lot from.”
Entry to the main conference during the day is free of charge, with tickets available on a first come, first served basis.
For those attending the gala dinner, tickets are priced at £35 per person, including a three-course meal and entertainment throughout the evening.
