Following the removal of revenue funding, it is no longer financially sustainable for the continued operation of public toilet facilities in Mold (Bus Station), Holywell (off High Street), and Talacre (Station Road).
Local support is required and alternative options are being sought through consultation activity. The Council will be formally seeking expressions of interest from the relevant Town and Community Councils for the potential transfer of ownership and ongoing operation of the toilets.
In addition to this, a public consultation will also be held from September, seeking ideas for alternative solutions to keep these facilities open. Without a viable transfer agreement in place, the facilities will have to close.
Cllr David Hughes – Leader of the Council said:
“This is not a decision that the Council has taken lightly, and we recognise the importance of these amenities to the local communities and visitors. We are committed to working constructively with partner organisations to explore all available alternatives. I want to reassure the public that, whilst we seek alternative providers to run these facilities, and until we have exhausted all viable options, these amenities will continue to operate.”
