The pre-season games are coming thick and fast now – and this afternoon The Blues are off to Merseyside to face Marine.
Less than 24 hours ago, Anthony Johnson and Bernard Morley’s team played game two of their friendly schedule. After a slow start and going an early goal down at Cheadle Town, the side started to hit their stride and ran out 6-1 winners in the end.
It was another important game for players to gain fitness ahead of the new campaign, and a brace for Danny Elliott brought his goal tally to three in the first two games of pre-season.
Once again, we expect to see the side shuffled across each half of the action tomorrow. A mix of First Teamers and Trialists – two of which were on the scoresheet last night – will feature.
Marine are gearing up for another season in the Northern Premier North West Division – two leagues below the Blues. They were sitting nicely in third place in the league before the pandemic curtailed the 2019/20 season.
Their Manager, Neil Young, needs no introduction to Blues supporters. The Chester FC Legend guided the reformed club to three successive Championships between 2010 and 2013.
All tickets are available online due to current restrictions – capacity is capped at 400 for the match.
