Free walk-in Lateral Flow Tests (LFTs) are available from Cheshire West and Chester Council’s own mobile pop-up COVID-19 testing units which will be located in Chester city centre and Ellesmere Port this week.
As of 28 March 2022, the pop-up testing units will be located:
- Opposite Asda, Mercer Walk, Ellesmere Port, from 9am to 3.30pm, Monday, 21 March, to Wednesday, 30 March, and from 9am to 12.30pm on Thursday, 31 March.
- Eastgate Street in Chester, between Hobbs and Bella Pasta, from 9am to 3.30pm, Monday, 28 March, to Wednesday, 30 March, and from 9am to 12.30pm on Thursday, 31 March.
LFT testing facilities are also located at the Dingle Centre in Winsford and Stanney Oaks Leisure Centre in Ellesmere Port and will remain operational until 31 March.
Attendance at any of these testing facilities do not require an appointment and all sites offer free home testing kits.
The tests are for anyone who does not have any COVID-19 symptoms. This type of test is good at picking up people who have no symptoms but are infected with COVID-19 and so may be unknowingly spreading the disease.
The Council recommends that everyone tests for COVID-19 twice a week regardless of whether they have been vaccinated. Free home test kits are also readily available at participating local pharmacies or online.
Free no-symptoms testing ends on 31 March 2022 as part of the national plan for living with COVID-19. From 1 April the Council will no longer offer on-site or home test kits. Free tests will also be unavailable from pharmacies or the national online ordering service.
Anyone with COVID-19 symptoms should book a PCR test at:
