At around 1.30pm on Thursday 13 December a digger was stolen from outside a house on Flag Lane North in Upton.
Enquiries into the incident are ongoing and detectives believe that the man in the CCTV image may be able to help with their investigation.
They are urging anyone who recognises him or thinks they may know who he is to get in touch.
Detective Constable Keith Campbell said: “We believe the man in the CCTV image may have important information to help with our ongoing investigation into the theft of a digger/mini excavator in Upton, Chester.
