Detectives are appealing for witnesses and video footage, after a man was seriously assaulted the Wellington Road area of Ellesmere Port.
At around 12.10am on Saturday 12 August, police were called to reports of an incident on Park Road, near to Wellington Road.
On arrival, officers found that a 37-year-old man had suffered a stab injury; he was taken to the Countess of Chester Hospital for treatment and has since been discharged.
Five people have been arrested in connection with the incident, these include two men, aged 51 and 23, and a 17-year-old boy, who have all been arrested on suspicion of section 18 assault. In addition an 18-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of grievous bodily harm and a 44-year-old woman has been arrested on suspicion use of threatening and abusive language.
All five suspects have been released on bail.
Enquiries are ongoing to establish the circumstances of the incident, with officers appealing for any witnesses to come forward.
Detective Constable Sarah Lister, who is leading the investigation, said:
"As part of our investigation we’re keen to hear from anyone who witnessed the incident or anyone with any video footage.
“I’d urge anyone who witnessed this attack but has not yet spoken to police to contact us.
