Police are warning owners of motorbikes and scooters to be vigilant following a rise in thefts in Chester and Ellesmere Port.
Between 11 October and 15 November we’ve had seven bikes or scooters stolen in these areas.
Sgt Andy Griffiths from the motorcycle Unit said: “While officers investigate the thefts, we’re urging residents to be vigilant and increase vehicle security as much as possible.
“We’d recommend keeping the vehicle in a secure garage, shed or outbuilding with good security measures such as lighting, ground anchors, and CCTV when parked overnight.
“When you’re out and about always try to park in well-lit areas with CCTV coverage if possible. Secure the bikes to a solid object like a post or wall using a high quality chain through a wheel or part of the bike’s frame and use a secondary security device such as a disc lock. We also recommend keeping the vehicle under a cover when parked.
“It’s also important that you report to police any suspicious behaviour in your area.”
If you have information relating to the recent theft of motorcycles, where they are being stored or any information you think may be relevant, please contact Cheshire Police on 101 or via the website.
You can also give information anonymously via Crimestoppers by calling 0800 555 111.
