The weekend of 2nd to 5th June will see Her Majesty The Queen formally celebrate her Platinum Jubilee. To celebrate this important occasion Her Majesty's Lord-Lieutenant of Cheshire Lady Redmond MBE is hosting a service of thanksgiving at Chester Cathedral in the afternoon of Thursday 2nd June 2022.
Representatives from local businesses, community organisations, schools, young people, charity groups and local arts groups are being invited to attend.
The service will be led by the Bishop of Chester Mark Tanner and the Dean of Chester Tim Stratford and will include performances from local organisations from across Cheshire.
There are a limited number of tickets available through a public ballot for residents wishing to attend. Members of the public can apply for up to two tickets, to be entered into the ballot email:
chestercivic@cheshirewestandchester.gov.uk
...with your name, home address and email contact details. The deadline for applications is 23 May.
Successful applicants will be contacted before 27 May with further details about the service and timings. For those who are unsuccessful they won't have to miss out as the service is being streamed live on Chester Cathedral’s Website and YouTube Account.
The Lord Mayor of Chester, Councillor Martyn Delaney said: “This service will bring together residents from across Cheshire, whether it be in person or virtually, to enable them to celebrate together the remarkable public life of Her Majesty the Queen. It is wonderful that the Lord Lieutenant has chosen to host her service in Chester.
“Please also join me from 9.15pm in Town Hall Square on the evening as we join the national beacon lighting to mark the Jubilee.
Chester’s beacon will be lit at 9.45pm on Thursday 2 June.
