Open Doors - A fascinating glimpse into the past

North East Wales Archives is housed at the Old Rectory in Hawarden, a Grade II listed Georgian building, with its own history dating back to the 18th century.

Here, you can research the history of your family, house, local area and much more! Records date back to the 13th century and up to the present day.

At the Open Doors event on September 6 you can listen to fascinating talks, look at displays and documents, and also go behind the scenes to where the historic Archives of the County of Flintshire are housed in environmentally-controlled, secure storage.

This year’s theme is Researching the History of Houses in Flintshire, featuring two exciting talks. Eleanor Carpenter from the Discovering Old Welsh Houses Group will give an overview of the group’s research into some historic Flintshire properties and Dr Angie Sutton-Vane will present her research into Plas yn Bwl, an ancient, Grade II* listed house in Caergwrle.
