Officers in Malpas drove home the importance of road safety as part of a national week of action.
From Monday 7th to Friday 11th February, officers took part in Road Safety Week, offering engagement and carried out speed enforcement around schools and roads across Malpas following concerns raised by the public.
Children were given a road safety talk at one school, with officers also paying additional attention to parking at drop off and pick up times as well as at the pedestrian crossing on Chester Road.
A number of advisory notices for highway obstruction were handed out outside a high school which was followed up with parking enforcement.
During the week, there was also Trucam Speed Enforcement carried out in different locations identified as speeding hotspots by local officers who were assisted by the Motorcycle Unit who carried out their own speed enforcement checks and Community Speed Watch members also contributed,
Inspector Darren Griffiths of Chester LPU said: “It is vitally important for us to educate the public on road safety to ensure they understand the potential devastating impact of their habits when driving.
“The awareness week has allowed us to get messages out there to motorists who may not be thinking about the consequences of their actions and help them make changes to not only protect themselves but others from the dangers of the road.
“Activities such as speaking to children at the local schools has allowed us to tell them about the dangers of busy roads and how they can stay safe. I know that I remember a visit from my local police officer regarding road safety so I’m sure the valuable information we provide now will stay with them as they grow older.
“The work undertaken during this week will not end here, we will continue to address the issues raised by local residents and will do all we can to make the roads of Malpas safer.”
