Citizens Advice Flintshire is encouraging residents to contact their Energy Team for advice following the Energy Cap increase.
Bills have increased by 10%, with average energy costs rising to £1,717 per year. The consequence of this increase is that many households may be, once again, forced to choose between heating and eating.
Pensioners are a particular focus for us right now; they’re vulnerable during the colder months and the criteria change for Winter Fuel Payments means millions of UK residents no longer have that extra support when they need it most.
With 880,000 UK households missing out on this payment, we are urging pensioners to check their eligibility for Pension Credit, which not only qualifies them for the Winter Fuel Payment but can also lead to Council Tax reduction and other financial support.
The contact number for help with energy, pension credit, and advice in general is a Freephone number:
0808 278 7923
Information about how to make digital enquiries and the face to face drop in sessions at Mold and Deeside is available on the Citizens Advice Flintshire website:
