Cheshire West and Chester Council will introduce a new package of fares on its Park & Ride services in Chester from 12th November 2023.
The new fares will include tickets allowing five people to travel together and a six-day travel for the price of five multi-journey ticket.
There will also be a modest increase in fares, the first increase in 10 years, a standard adult ticket will increase from £2 to £2.50.
Under 5s will be able to travel free of charge and a ticket for five to 18-year-olds (inclusive) will be just £1.
A Group day ticket is now available for five people of any age to travel together on the same ticket for just £5.
The Multi-6 ticket will cost £12.50, providing six days of travel for the price of five. Unlike the others above, that can be purchased both on bus, or as a mobile ticket via the Stagecoach phone app, the ‘Multi 6’ is only available on the app.
A special Countess ticket is also available for £1.50 for travel between Upton Park & Ride and Liverpool Road for visits to the Countess of Chester Hospital. This ticket is available from the bus driver only and not the app.
The Council’s Deputy Leader and Cabinet Member for Environment, Transport and Highways, Councillor Karen Shore said:
“Our new package of fares provide good value for money and more options for travel on our Park & Ride services.
“You’ll also be doing your bit to improve air quality and beat the traffic in the city centre. We’re now all very aware of the climate emergency and the need to all play our part to reduce emissions, using the Park and Ride is the perfect way to do this.
“Our stylish and comfortable Park & Ride buses have USB charging, free wifi and premium seating and provide quick and easy travel into Chester city centre.”
Two current ticket options will not be available after 12 November, the ‘7-day Megarider’ and ‘Free after 2pm’ on Wednesdays options are to be withdrawn.
More information on timetables and routes are available on the Council’s website, including where to park.
Information on the new package of fares will be added soon.
