Detectives have launched a murder investigation following the death of a man in Ellesmere Port.
At around 8.20pm on Wednesday 1 May, police were called to reports that a man had been assaulted by three unknown men on Summertrees Road Ellesmere Port.
Officers attended the scene and found that the man had been stabbed several times. He was treated by paramedics at the scene before being taken to the Countess of Chester Hospital. Sadly, despite the best efforts of all those involved, he has since died.
An investigation into the incident has been launched and a police cordon is currently in place on Summertrees Road.
Chief Superintendent Jon Betts said:
“I understand the concern that this incident is likely to cause, and I want to reassure the local community that we are working hard to establish exactly what has taken place.
“Patrols have been stepped up in the local area to provide reassurance, and officers will also be conducting house-to-house enquiries near to the scene of the incident.
“As part of the investigation we’re keen to hear from anyone who was in the area and may have witnessed what took place. The same goes or anyone with any CCTV or dashcam footage which may aid the in investigation.”
