Cheshire West and Chester Council has pledged more than £40,000 to further community projects as part of the current funding round on the Cheshire West Crowd.
Run by the Council in partnership with Spacehive, the Cheshire West Crowd allows everyone to put forward community-led projects and attract funding to make the borough more vibrant, resilient and connected.
The extra £40,000 pledged to projects follows two earlier funding panels, which distributed nearly £270,000 to projects.
The latest projects to receive support from the Council include the following.
- Great Sutton Wellbeing Village
- Kingsley Mobility Ramp
- Transform Mount Farm Way Pond
- Pettypool in the Community Transport
As well as pitching to the Council for funds, projects can gain the support of the local community.
Since the Cheshire West Crowd was first launched a couple of years back, 136 different projects have now raised almost £2.2 million from nearly 7,000 backers.
Councillor Louise Gittins, Leader of the Council and Champion for the Cheshire West Crowd, said:
“This latest funding round on the Cheshire West Crowd has been a real success.
“While many projects have already reached their crowdfunding targets, others are still looking for support to get over the line.
“As a Council, we’ve invested a significant amount of money in projects during this latest funding round and others can make their own pledges to support these initiatives.
“The Cheshire West Crowd is a flexible way for projects to raise funds and generate the support of the local community.
“We’re looking forward to seeing the real difference these latest projects will make.”
Anyone can pledge their support to community projects, helping them with their crowdfunding campaigns, and any amount could make all the difference.
