Sam Rowlands, Member of the Welsh Parliament for North Wales, has welcomed news that more money is being made available to improve access to dentists in North-East Wales.
Betsi Cadwaladr University Health Board has announced that additional dental activity worth £5.5m is being introduced in locations across the region over the coming months as part of its ongoing efforts to improve access to treatment.
Mr Rowlands, who continually campaigns for better dental services in North Wales said:
“I am pleased to hear that the health board has listened to the campaign to improve access to dentistry and is allocating more funds to improve dental services, particularly in Flintshire and Wrexham.
“It is great to see money being spent in Wrexham, Flint and Mold and certainly good news for my constituents in those areas who struggle to find a dentist.
“I am also delighted to hear that a new dental practice is due to open in Connah’s Quay in September.”
BCUH is spending £4m in general dental service in several locations across North Wales including Wrexham, Flint and Mold. Contracts have also been awarded to improve non-urgent dental sessions in Wrexham and orthodontic services in Wrexham and Connah’s Quay.
A new dental practice is also anticipated to open in Connah’s Quay in September.
