Mid Cheshire Mind have moved from Dene Drive, Winsford to a new mental wellbeing hub for the local community in the old Barclays Bank building at 21 Dingle Walk, Winsford as work progresses on Cheshire West and Chester Council’s regeneration of the town.
The charity has been offering mental health support for people in Winsford and the surrounding areas for over 20 years. They provide a drop-in and appointment service with weekly support activities that encourage and promote positive wellbeing and improvements in mental health.
The town centre regeneration includes the demolition of some existing buildings and the construction of new and improved spaces for businesses, with a new 168-space car park alongside improvement to walking, cycling access and dedicated cycle storage. There are also plans for a vibrant community hub at the heart of the Council-led redevelopment scheme for Winsford town centre, which will be complimented by Mid Cheshire Mind’s mental wellbeing hub.
New open public spaces are being created for pop-ups, events and visiting attractions, with more green space in the town centre than ever before, providing a relaxing and pleasant environment for residents and visitors to enjoy.
With this move, Mid Cheshire Mind join Changing Lives Together, Nationwide Building Society, MyDentist, Hollie&Co., Tur&Co., and Specsavers in relocating to new units in Winsford town centre.
Cllr Nathan Pardoe, Cabinet Member for Inclusive Economy, Regeneration and Digital Transformation, said:
“It is fantastic that Mid Cheshire Mind are continuing their commitment to providing mental health and wellbeing support for people in Winsford and the surrounding areas. Mental health support has never been more important, and it is vital that people in Winsford can access support in a central town centre location. The Council views this as a crucial part of our exciting plans for the town centre’s regeneration. Town centres are about far more than just retail and are hubs for people to come together and access the support they need.”
Joe Wheeler, Chair of Trustees, Mid Cheshire Mind, said:
“We were delighted to be able to secure such a prominent central location for Mid Cheshire Mind, which will create a welcoming mental wellbeing hub for the local community. Demand for our services has never been higher and we are looking forward to expanding our support offer from our new space.
“We have been in Winsford for over 20 years, and we would like to thank Cheshire West and Chester Council for their help and support allowing us to serve local people.”
