Beautiful Castle Park in Frodsham is now using technology to share the story of its wooden sculpture trail.
Cheshire West and Chester Council has arranged for QR codes to be applied to the sculptures to help tell the story of Matilda the Bee… and some very naughty wasps.
Award-winning tree carver, Simon O’Rourke was commissioned to create some outstanding wooden sculptures around the park to tell the story. Featuring bees, spiders, honeycomb, lavender and foliage.
Leader of the Council and Cabinet Member for Wellbeing, Councillor Louise Gittins said:
“We all know the benefits of being outdoors and enjoying nature, and now these QR codes add to the fun of the sculpture trail in wonderful Castle Park.
“The story of Matilda the bee is delightful but I won’t spoil the story for you by saying any more… Visit soon and see for yourself.”
To read more about Matilda’s adventure visitors just need to scan the QR code with the camera on their smartphone. Tap the link that appears and then the name of the sculpture and a chapter from her story appears on the screen. There are six sculptures in total in the trail at various points around the park.
